JEAN REDON
Born in France, Jean began playing the piano at age seven and went on to study at the Paris Conservatoire and then at the Gnesin Special School of Music in Russia. While there, he won the Scriabin Museum Competition, was a finalist of the Maria Herrero Competition in Granada, Spain, and laureate of the Spivakov Foundation. He received his B.M. and M.M. at the Gnesin Academy of Music under Tatiana Zelikman. He also holds a Bachelor degree of Musicology from the Paris-Sorbonne University. As a soloist, Jean made his debut during 2015/16 season with the Eflat Major Concerto by F. Liszt and the Kemerovo Symphonic Orchestra. Enterprising chamber musician, Jean founded Redon Duo in 2019 alongside brilliant violinist Alexandra Afanaseva. Their playing has earned them success in several International Competitions in Andorra, Italia and Russia. Highlights of the 2023/24 season include Redon Duo debut as part of the Amici della Musica di Verona concerts (Italy). During 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, Jean appears in Paris’ concerts of Jeunes Talents with English flautist Victoria Creighton. Highlight of the 2023/24 season include Jean’s debut with the famous French flautist Julien Beaudiment on live-concert for Radio France’s broadcast «Générations France Musique» by Clément Rochefort. During the 2024/25 season they played together in Salle Molière (Lyon, France) alongside the soloists of the Opéra National de Lyon Kazimierz Olechowski (violin) and Ewa Miecznikowska (cello). Jean is the co-founder of the Libertalia Ensemble alongside French violinist David Castro-Balbi, violist Loan Cazal, cellist Alexandre Castro-Balbi and German double-bass player Mischa Kogan. He recorded his first album of J.N. Hummel and F. Schubert piano quintets in 2021, released by CPO Records. Wanting to pass on his knowledge Jean regularly takes part in pedagogical events such as masterclasses and has been teaching in France in several conservatoires such as Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, Conservatoires de Vitry-sur-Seine, Epernon, Villers-Cotterêts, Roncq.
