Lyudmila Ekimova studied piano at the Tchaikovsky Music School in Chelyabinsk with R.G. Gitlin, a talented pupil of the outstanding representative of the Soviet piano school, A.B. Goldenweiser.
In 1976 she completed her studies at the Petrozavodsk branch of the Leningrad Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory (piano department) with Professor J.I. Tishkina, a deserving artist of the KASSR and a deserving cultural figure in Russia.
Since 1977 she has been working as a teacher at the Department of Special Piano and Chamber Concert Art of the South Ural State Institute of Arts named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, holding the highest qualification category.
Many of Ludmila Ekimova's graduates have continued their education at leading music academies in Russia and Europe. Many of her students have received high honours at various international festivals and competitions.
Ludmila Ekimova gives master classes, seminars, lectures and talks on the problems of piano playing and is a member of the jury at many international competitions in Russia, Bulgaria and Germany.
In 1999 Ludmila Ekimova was awarded the title of 'Honoured Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation'.
